Best Anti-Aging, Moisturizing Sunscreen: NIA 24 Sun Damage Prevention 100% Mineral Sunscreen SPF 30

by fh on August 5, 2009 · 12 comments

Nia24SPFI recently tried Nia 24 Sun Damage Prevention 100% Mineral Sunscreen SPF 30.  I have only raves for this product for a number of reasons.  To sum up: this product is natural, effective, and is anti-aging.

It works not only as effective sun protector, but as an anti-aging moisturizer.  Dual functionality is a huge plus for me, since it speeds up my morning routine by eliminating the need to separately apply a moisturizer and a sunscreen.   It also removes the possibility of conflicting ingredients, where ingredients from a moisturizer and an SPF do not jive well together.

Let’s dwell deeper into the depth of labeled ingredients and product effectiveness:

Natural: Nia 24 consists of natural ingredients and is ranked #3 in cosmetic database (most of the over-the-counter sunscreens range between 5 and 7).

Effective: NIA 24 line claims to rebuild skin in three ways: repair skin damage, prevent wrinkles by stimulating energy metabolism, and promote skin turnover.

Formulated with 5% Pro-NiacinTM, potent antioxidant vitamin E, and a full 9.4% micronized Titanium Dioxide and 3.6% micronized Zinc Oxide, this product provides a way to get both anti-aging and physical sunscreen benefits everyday.
Niacin (form of Vitamin B) in its acidic and basic forms has been established to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, hyper pigmented spots, red blotchiness, and skin sallowness (yellowing), and increase skin’s elasticity. Niacin in the NIA 24 line is available in the form of Pro-NiacinTM, which breaks down to Nicotinic Acid and makes it even more effective anti-aging prevention.   Ingredients such as potent antioxidant and Vitamin E contribute to moisturizing and anti-aging prevention.

The sunscreen consists of 9.4% micronized Titanium Dioxide and 3.6% micronized Zinc Oxide and is a physical sunscreen.  Physical sunscreen is the most effective sunscreens on the market proven to block UVB and UVA sun rays and prevent cancer.

This sunscreen is a great product to get the anti-aging benefits of Niacin and physical sunscreen in one product.

Is it worth buying? Definitely! While NIA 24 sunscreen may be more pricey than some other SPF on the market (retails around $45), it is certainly worth buying due to its effectiveness.    You may be getting a less expensive product, but does it matter if it doesn’t do the job and contains cancel causing ingredients?

Personally speaking, I love how this product works on my skin.   In the short time that I’ve used it, it brightened my skin, reduced some of the sun spots and makes my skin appear firmer and moist.

Buy at Derma Doctor or at Fragnance.net (enter SAVETEN for 10% off order until 12/31/09).

I completely agree! Nia 24 is an excellent product. When I first got it I was a little suspicious because it’s more than I am used to spending, but I’m a firm believer in Nia 24 now though. There is no way I’d go back. I order Nia 24 skin care products online and I usually get a good price on them. It’s so worth it.

Laura, thanks for your comment. Nia 24 products and this sunscreen in general is getting rave reviews all over. It is so satisfying to find the product that you love and that is effective.

3 How To Apply Sunscreen August 6, 2009 at 11:10 am

It is very important to put sunscreen on your skin when you plan on going to a beach or an outdoor pool. There are very harmful rays that can make your skin look brittle and scaly if not taken care of.

Thank you for the review. I have been looking for a SPF 30 for my face and neck. It didnt come up on the drugstore.com link you posted, but I will do a search for it.

The Made from Earth Vitamin Enhanced Moisturizer saved my face!!

In my late twenties, I tried just about every moisturizer I could find including rarified ingredient boutique lotions but my skin remained dry, hot, itchy, flaky, and I was seeing laugh lines around my eyes. I was about to give up hope until my mother, whowho has AMAZING skin, brought me the organic Made from Earth “Vitamin Enhanced Moisturizer”…

On the occasions I do try other lotions, they never measure up.

My skin thanked me after the first application. After a few days, it looked better, was less red, less chapped. Within a month or two (or less, I don’t remember after 3 years) I had no lines near my eyes, my skin feels soft and comfortable unless I abuse it. When I abuse it, this lotion makes it feel better. People consistently guess my age to be 5-8 years younger than I am even though I have grey hair.

I almost never need more than a tiny amount the size of a pencil eraser to cover my face, neck and hands. (Keep the cap or it dries out.) I recommend it to anyone looking for a facial moisturizer that works as good or better than advertised. Absolutely worth the money since it last for a good 3 month period.
