MichelleObamaGovernersBall2010

On Sunday afternoon Michelle Obama gave a group of Washington-area music students a preview of the talent set to perform at the Governor’s Ball.

We think Michelle Obama looked spectacular.   Her outfit iss stylish, classy, and flattering.   She wore a high waist skirt above-the-knee pencil skirt, deep plunge silk v-neck blouse, cropped sleeves black cardigan, studded belt by Azelina Alyaia, and round-toe patent leather pumps.

This look is sophisticated and versatile.   Wear it to drum up your classy meets chic fashionista status at the office or to impress at a celebratory dinner.

Here is how to get her look for less:

Stars dazzled 2010 Grammy Awards with styles ranging from glam to casual to rock chick. As  we’ve seen in  is the past, there is no dress code to abide to at Grammy awards.

Some celebrities wore elegant gowns, while others turned heads with skin baring rock ensembles.   And as usual within each style some looks worked (yes, J. Lo and Heidi, you did it again), while other looks didn’t (sorry Lady Gaga, while we get the whole alien vibe, we’re not entirely sure if the intent was to dress up as a human or to moonlight as a stage decoration.)

Here is the round up of best dressed celebrities and how to get a similar look (for mere mortals with mortal cash flow).

Taylor Swift was a vision of elegance  in this Kaufman Franco sexy back gown with jewelry by Lorraine Schwartz and Christian Louboutin shoes.
For a similar look to a black tie event, try this sexy, open back Silver Sequined Dress by Tony Bowls.   For a night out or cocktail event version, go  with this drape sequin dress by Alexander Wang.

Alexander Wang Drapey Stretch Sequin Dress

Beyonce wore Stephanie Rolland with Casadei shoes and jewelry by Lorraine Schwartz.   We like this Bodice Lace Evening Gown
by Terani Couture
.

Marisa Miller in vintage Gucci with Neil Lane jewelry and Yves Saint Laurent shoes.  We like this strapless  Aja Dress by ADAM.

ADAM Aja Strapless Dress

Lea Michele(from Glee) looked adorable in Romona Reveza dress with a Fendi bag, Lorraine Schwartz jewelry, and Brian Atwood shoes.
For a more grown up version try this elegant one-shoulder number from D&G.

Fergie in Emilio Pucci with a Kwiat cuff, Jessica Robinson ring and earrings, Le Silla shoes, and a Judith Leiber clutch.
This multi-layer Alice & Olivia One shoulder dress, gives off the same rock-chic vibe and is young and fresh.

Alice + Olivia Multi Layer One Shoulder Dress

Jennifer Hudson stepped out in this Victoria Bekham dress that shows the right assets and hides any imperfections.
To hide stomach excess, go with this Alice and Olivia Peplum dress or try Maggy London Pagoda Sleeve Sheath Dress for a structured shoulders  and fitted look.

Initially this is a non-paid position.  For contributors who are in college, evaluations for school credit will be provided. Excellent writers will be offered paid positions after a set time period.

5. Any relevant experience that would qualify you for this role.

JenniferLopezAtVersaceFashionShowDec2009 JenniferLopezWhiteDressAtVersaceFashionShowDec2009_1

I am loving the “white dress in the winter” trend. And who is better to rock that trend than the glamorous Jen?
While her choices of movie roles may not always be the wisest, she hits it on the target  every time with fashion choices.

The mini ruched long sleeve dress drapes  her silhouette like a wrapper clings to a moistened Lozenges candy.  A very curvy candy.
The white compliments her olive skin tone and adds classy and unexpected glam to her look.

In detail:

Since Oprah blessed CJ by Cookie Johnson denim line, the jeans have been flying off the shelves. The jeans are cut to fit a real woman with curvy figure.    Since they have hit the stores, the line is getting rave reviews for fit and style.   The only drawback is the price,  similar to other designer denim brands, the jeans are priced from $117 to $199.

We found them on sale at 60% off for one the most popular styles the “Grace Bootcut Jeans”.   Priced at $63, they are a real steal. These jeans are cut a little higher in the back, and have slightly higher waist to provide more coverage.   They are also roomier in the tights and run in wider size range: from size 24 to 38.   Get yours, this price won’t last.

Grace Bootcut Jeans-$63(60% off from$158)

And don’t forget to check out these going out tops and boots to go with your new pair of jeans.

AXb1Fashion Hippo partnered with Armani Exchange to introduce the launch of A|X TV.

What is A|X TV? It is an online video platform, that offers a peak into the coveted world of Armani Exchange.

The videos masterfully capture season’s campaign shoots, candid behind-the-scene moments, never-before-seen footage from previous campaigns, and the lifestyle culture of AX generation (including music reels and interviews with the world’s hottest DJs).

And while Armani Exchange campaigns have never lacked in sleekness or sexiness, the cool thing about the videos is that they show us beginning to end experience, and bring us closer to the people behind the curtains and what’s really going on.. Think Reality TV of Armani Exchange campaigns and photo shoots.

LoveQuotesScarf
Nicolerichie
Love Quotes Scarves are on sale at Zappos.  These incredibly soft weave, high quality scarves are getting major raves.   Worn by numerous celebrities: Jessica Alba, Nicole Ritchie, and Paris Hilton, these babies come in many colors and are made of incredibly luxurious Italian linen.

Due to their wide appeal they are now sold in major department stores, such as Saks Fifths Avenue, and Bloomingdale’s.

Love Quotes scarves rarely go on sale, but I just saw them on sale at Zappos, in three colors: Azalea, Dune, and Papayas.  We love the dune for neuteral classy look, and the pink azalea for a statement pink.  The best part is shipping and handling is free.

AnasuiRunwayPhoto from Anna Sui for Target Runway
If you watched “Gossip Girls” season premiere last night, (and it was well worth waiting for), you know that Anna Sui for Target collection inspired by female characters from Gossip Girls, has launched.

It is making a powerful media splash, and is available in stores and online.

I happen to be at a physical Target location last night and expected to see a full range of styles and sizes.  What I saw was an adorable collection with many sizes scooped up by the time I graced the store with my evening entrance.

As for quality, and I will note specific items that are worthy, overall the collection is well made.   Most dresses are made of 100% silk,  lined, well crafted, and interesting.   The styles are fresh and youthful.   As for the prices, the dresses are priced in high $50. Given the designer styles, and extra designer touches: lining, patterns, styles with twist, these items are reasonably priced. If I had to pick one item to buy, I would go with a silk dress for the optimal style & value proposition.

Here are the best picks:
From left to right: 1. Anna Sui Silk Wrap Black Dress 2. Anna Sui Lace Halter Neck Dress 3. Anna Sui Metallic Jacquard Dress in Blue  4. Anna Sui Silk Wrap in Multi Dress 5. Anna Sui Floral Jacquard Dress in Multi
