On Sunday afternoon Michelle Obama gave a group of Washington-area music students a preview of the talent set to perform at the Governor’s Ball.

We think Michelle Obama looked spectacular. Her outfit iss stylish, classy, and flattering. She wore a high waist skirt above-the-knee pencil skirt, deep plunge silk v-neck blouse, cropped sleeves black cardigan, studded belt by Azelina Alyaia, and round-toe patent leather pumps.

This look is sophisticated and versatile. Wear it to drum up your classy meets chic fashionista status at the office or to impress at a celebratory dinner.

Best Grammy 2010 Looks and How To Get Them For Less

Stars dazzled 2010 Grammy Awards with styles ranging from glam to casual to rock chick. As we’ve seen in is the past, there is no dress code to abide to at Grammy awards.

Some celebrities wore elegant gowns, while others turned heads with skin baring rock ensembles. And as usual within each style some looks worked (yes, J. Lo and Heidi, you did it again), while other looks didn’t (sorry Lady Gaga, while we get the whole alien vibe, we’re not entirely sure if the intent was to dress up as a human or to moonlight as a stage decoration.)

Here is the round up of best dressed celebrities and how to get a similar look (for mere mortals with mortal cash flow).

Taylor Swift was a vision of elegance in this Kaufman Franco sexy back gown with jewelry by Lorraine Schwartz and Christian Louboutin shoes.

Fashion Hippo is Hiring Contributors /Writers

Before posting to job sites, we wanted to spread the word starting at Fashion Hippo about this opportunity.

Are you a stylish urbanista (e.i. have flare for urban style) who is obsessed with fashion? Love to write?
Do you believe in quality over quantity? Do you love to find optimal deals? Do you want to have your writing read by thousands of women? Do you want to learn more insight into the fashion blogging? Does finding deals gives you an optimal thrill? Do you want to write about what you love?

If so, Fashion Hippo is looking for fashion and beauty writers/contributors for 2010. (Note: You do not need to be a college student to apply. Our audience is women 24 to 46, and understanding of our readers mindset is helpful: busy, likes quality/longevity over quantity, appreciates designer brands.)

Responsibilities include:

Writing, researching, and creating products shopping guides. Photo editing. Writers will need to contribute 1-5 blog posts per week. You can choose your own topics and expand into new direction (i.e. indie brands). Hours are flexible. Start date January 2010. We require 6 months minimum commitment.

Also, post daily blurbs about news, designer sample sales, daily deals, brands, and products. Manage community outreach via social network, Twitter, e-blasts. Facilitate products giveaways. Knowledge of Image Editing Software (Adobe Photoshop or Snag It) and Wordpress blogging software is preferred. Basic HTML knowledge is a plus.

The ideal candidate would be passionate about fashion, able to put together an eye-drawing outfit, and in-the-know on the current trends, and celebrity fashion. Be responsible, hard working, self-motivated, creative, and organized. Be able to handle writing on a deadline. Prior blogging experience, or online writing or media experience is strongly preferred -even if it is just a personal blog.

Initially this is a non-paid position. For contributors who are in college, evaluations for school credit will be provided. Excellent writers will be offered paid positions after a set time period.

Anna Sui for Target Collection Reviewed: Based on “Gossip Girl” Characters

If you watched “Gossip Girls” season premiere last night, (and it was well worth waiting for), you know that Anna Sui for Target collection inspired by female characters from Gossip Girls, has launched.

It is making a powerful media splash, and is available in stores and online.

I happen to be at a physical Target location last night and expected to see a full range of styles and sizes. What I saw was an adorable collection with many sizes scooped up by the time I graced the store with my evening entrance.

As for quality, and I will note specific items that are worthy, overall the collection is well made. Most dresses are made of 100% silk, lined, well crafted, and interesting. The styles are fresh and youthful. As for the prices, the dresses are priced in high $50. Given the designer styles, and extra designer touches: lining, patterns, styles with twist, these items are reasonably priced. If I had to pick one item to buy, I would go with a silk dress for the optimal style & value proposition.
