Fashion Hippo partnered with American Express to offer one of our lucky reader a holiday worthy price of pre-paid $500 American Express Gift Card, to spend on anything your heart desires.
The winner will also receive 1 Year of American Express Premium Return Protection that will ensure you no longer have a “Purchase Regret” (see below what the Return Protection is all about). During this giveaway we’d love to learn fascinating stories about your purchase regrets.
We’ve all made a purchase (or more) that we ultimately regret – impulse buys that we really don’t need, an online purchase that looked better on-screen than in-person, or a sale item that’s no longer in style – the problem is, if we wait too long, we find ourselves in a situation where these sorts of purchases can’t be returned. That is “Purchase Regret”.
What do you have to do?
1. Sign up for a free Fashion Hippo Newsletter.
2. Like Fashion Hippo on Facebook or Stumble this giveaway (if you have SU account)
3. In the comment section, please share your “Purchase Regret” with us.
When?
The giveaway will run until December 24th, 2010 11:59 PM PST. All entries must be submitted by then. The winner will be randomly drawn and announced on December 25th.
The winner must contact us at fh@fashionhippo.com and send us your mailing address. The AMEX gift card will be traveling to your doorsteps shortly accompanied by one year of Premium Return Protection enrollment details.
Now a few words about Premium Return Protection…
What is Premium Return Protection and how does it work?
Premium Return Protection is a new protection service from American Express that gives shoppers up to 180 days to return popular items that retailers will no longer accept. This means that American Express will refund the purchase price of the item including tax (up to $600) and return shipping up to $20 per item.
Another advantage of the service is that it can be used to cover restocking fees, which can be as much as 25 percent of the cost of an item. The new service is available to all consumers for an annual price of $49.99 and will cover purchases made with any credit, debit or charge card from any financial services company as well as American Express prepaid cards.
That means if you paid for an item with a Visa, MasterCard or Discover card – any credit, debit or charge card from someone other than American Express – you can enjoy the benefits of American Express with Premium Return Protection.
Up to what dollar amount is covered for returns? How long do consumers have to make a return?
Shoppers are covered for purchases made on any card up to $600 per item (up to $2,500 per year). Shoppers have up to 180 days from the date of purchase to return an item to American Express. This is six times as long as an average retailers return policy. Items must be in “like new” condition and in working order to receive coverage. Items must be purchased in the United States from a retailer in the United States to be eligible on a credit, debit, charge or American Express Pre–paid card in the enrollee’s name.
Isn’t this a wonderful service?

My purchase regret was a water softening system. The salesperson was in our house for several hours and would not take no for an answer…he kept offering one more thing. After he left after midnight…I had serious regrets and cancelled the sale in the morning.
One purchase I made on ebay showed a nice selection of kids 5/6 and a cute pair of red boots. Since person selling lived in town I get to frequently, asked if could pick it up in person. The seller said she thought I was a stalker and refused to do so. When shipment arrived the clothes had dirty stains, cat hair, etc and NO red boots. Said she no longer had them. This was advertised as clean and NO PETS–yah, right!!!
I regret purchasing a flimsy plastic belt. I am following, liking, joining and subscribing.

I have purchased ill fitting shoes.
I purchased some beautiful boots last year, and I really regret it! I thought I could wear them in and they’d become comfortable–wrong! I still think they are gorgeous, but if I can’t walk in them what’s the use. I even soaked them in hot water to stretch them–and make sure that I couldn’t return them–lol.
