NY Times Magazine just released this lovely image of Jason Wu for Target collection. The collection is supposed to launch in Target stores on Feb. 5th. Between Jason Wu for Target and Marni for H&M, our 2012 is just getting better and better.
Although quality of this collection is yet to be determined, purely look-based, and judging by the few image that we’ve seen, Jason Wu whipped up covetable pieces. The pieces mix elements that are common in high end designs, such as color-blocking, intricate hardware, and geometrical patterns.

Unlike some of the other collaborations that didn’t make our hearts sing, ahem Versace for H&M, we adore what we’ve seen so far from Jason Wu for Target collection. Jason Wu chose to create a unique look for Target collection instead of simplifying his signature line, which is frequently done during these high/low collaborations.
The word that comes to mind when looking at these pieces is playful elegance.
The black and white satchel toys with color-blocking, and its structured shape gives the bag a more expensive feel. The above the knee dress that adds class as it simultaneously flirts with our visual sense by smartly using various width and colored stripes. The satchel is $50 and the dress is $40.
Here is a short Jason Wu for Target video that offers a few glimpses of the new collection.
