The latest designer collaborations have been interesting to say the least, and there’s one more on the horizon: Karl Lagerfeld for Macy’s.
Lagerfeld is a mainstay in high-end fashion, and now, the designer is teaming up with Macy’s to create an exclusive capsule collection.
The line is set to launch on August 31st in 235 of Macy’s 800+ stores, and it will be available on Macys.com. The collection will have 45 pieces, all of which will be infused with Lagerfeld’s sophisticated yet edgy designs. And, the pieces will range from $50 to $170.
Now, shoppers will have access to Lagerfeld tailored tuxedo dresses, collectible t-shirts, crocodile-print jackets, and leggings. But what does this mean for shoppers who prefer quality over quantity?
There’s no denying a great investment piece will take you far, and lately, designer collaborations have left us wanting a better quality product. For example, our coverage of the Mulberry for Target collection showed plastic pieces that were nowhere near close to the Mulberry bags we know and love.
So will the Lagerfeld for Macy’s collection be reminiscent of past dismal designer collabs? It’s evident that the pieces will be coveted by many, but the quality of the pieces from the collection is still up in the air.
Our advice? These collaborations are hit or miss and should be evaluated on a case by case basis. We’re awaiting the line’s release to judge its quality and will report our findings.
