The Row, a luxurious line tailored to a sophisticated woman, is quickly becoming a favorite among the trendiest celebrities including Gwynneth Paltrow, Thelma Blair, and Sarah Jessica Parker. The line is created by fashion icons Mary-Kate and Ashley Olson who got involved in fashion years ago, first with a mainstream junior line sold at Walmart, and moving up to trendsetting Elizabeth and James collection. The Row is Olsen’s third and most impressive line that builds on design experience with their previous lines.
The fall collection is filled with luxurious basics in muted color palettes and skin-nourishing fabrics such as cashmere, silk blends and jersey. The Row offers everything from over-sized T’s to pencil skirts, to maxi-dresses reminiscent of Mary-Kate’s bohemian style.
As Mary-Kate states in this month’s Marie Claire, The Row has become a passion for both her and her sister, as acting is put on the back burner compared to their now widely successful design ventures. And while some stars limit their fashion involvement to simply plastering their name to a line and nothing more, Mary-Kate has made it clear that she is passionately involved with many aspects of the line, stating in the Marie Claire interview that, “It took us a year and a half to make the first T-shirt.”
Here are some of our favorite pieces from Fall’s collection chosen for their simplicity, quality, and comfort followed by more affordable alternatives that create a similar look.
An easy staple to this line is The Row Camberly batwing jersey T-shirt, $325. While one the expensive side, the same drapey effect can be found in this Bassike Oversized Organic Cotton T-shirt, $130 for less than half the price. Paired with skinny jeans, shorts, flats or heels, this oversize Tee can instantly become a fall wardrobe staple.
The Row Audrey Cashmere and Mohair-blend sweater, $1,190 is the perfect layering piece for those chilly fall days. For something more affordable, look at this Alice + Olivia Off the Shoulder Sweater, $38 for the same sexy/cozy look.
The Row Lawling Jerdey Maxi Dress, $375 is perfectly on-trend for this season with its slick silhouette, mixed with a neutral color. For a less expensive, but just as chic option try this T by Alexander Wang 2×2 Draped Long Dress, $140.
On a related noted, The Row e-commerce site has just launched, and they are offering 15 percent off your entire purchase now through August 20th. Use code SHOPTHEROW.
